Lessons Learned From My First Recipe with My New Dorie Group:
1) Dorie still rocks...and so does this new cookbook
2) Brown butter makes everything taste amazing
3) It's possible to make a delicious apple cake at 8PM
4) When Dorie tells you to use a springform pan...use a springform pan
5) No matter how much you want a slice, let a cake fully cool before trying to remove it
6) Alex and his pregnant wife will eat it anyways, even when it looks terrible
7) One slice of Marie-Helene's Apple Cake is not enough
French Fridays with Dorie. Because there is NEVER enough Dorie in my life!

Some great lessons learned!! It was a good cake...no matter what it's structure was!
I couldn't get enough of this delicious cake as well...dessert last night, breakfast this morning, and an afternoon snack for me.
Also love sound of using brown butter...fantastic job!
LoL...love your post! And love that you loved it with brown butter...I've just got to try that!
I cut mine too soon too and it flattened a bit with the first cut. But that didn't hurt the taste even a tiny bit, the photograph, just a bit, but not the important part!
Thanks for the laughs!
I'm going to have to try this with brown butter next time - that's a great idea.
I love your list!
I'll have to try the browned butter next time- it sounds amazing!
Your post made me laugh...in a nice way!
Totally agree with your list of things you learned :) I definitely need to try this with brown butter!!
Brown butter...I bet that made this cake even better. And if you had used the springform, you wouldn't have had to wait for it to cool! You could just start hacking away after 10 minutes like I did!
I did not use a spring form pan for this mainly because the last time I did it leaked out all over the oven. It popped out fine after it cooled in an 8x2 cake pan.
